Kandhamal: Vigilance officials today conducted simultaneous raids at five places including the residence and office of Phulbani NAC Executive Officer Radhamohan Behera on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A joint team of Phulbani and Berhampur Vigilance office conducted simultaneous raids at multiple places which includes Behera's house in Berhampur, his in laws' house in Surugiri of Ganjam district.

Sources said, the sleuths also raided the house of Behera's close aide who is currently serving as an employee in Phulbani Municipality office.

"The raids are in progress, details of the seized items will be known only after the completion of the raids," said Arun Nayak, DSP of Parakhemundi Vigilance office.

In another incident, office of the Angul Vigilance arrested ASI of Tapadhol Police outpost, Gajendra Behera while he was accepting bribe from a person.

As per reports, Gajendra asked bribe from one Jagannath Behera in the district to relax police charges on the latter’s son who has been booked in an assault case.

Later when Jagannath reported the matter to Cuttack Vigilance cell, the anti-corruption sleuths laid a trap to nab Gajendra.

"We arrested Gajendra while he was taking Rs 5000 from Jagannath at Tapadhol Police Outpost today," informed Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, DSP Angul Vigilance Department.

Gajendra was forwarded to court after interrogation by the anti-corruption wing in Angul.
