Bhubaneswar: State vigilance officials on Thursday arrested Phulbani mining officer Prafulla Kumar Sethi in connection with a disproportionate assets (DQ) case.

According to reports, the investigating agency has seized gold biscuits weighing around 447 gms and 500 gm of silver ornaments, among other valuables from his house here.

Besides, the vigilance sleuths got to know that more than Rs 5 lakh had been kept in his name in various banks and post offices.

His brother-in-law has also been detained, sources added.

On Wednesday, acting on the complaints of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, several teams of vigilance conducted raids at nine different places, including Sethy’s Phulbani office, ancestral home and his houses located in GGP colony and Sabarsahi in Bhubaneswar.

During the raid, the vigilance team discovered that Nayak has three houses in Bhubaneswar, two in Teladiha, a plot and a market complex in Nischintakoili and properties worth lakhs in the name of his relatives.
