Petrol pump employee injured in attack by youth

Bhubaneswar: An employee of a petrol pump in Bhubaneswar was injured after being attacked by a youth on Monday night. According to sources, three youths arrived at the petrol pump at Kalpana Square and one of them started an altercation with the employee. Following the altercation, the accused youth reportedly picked up an iron rod and attacked the employee.

Sources said the accused youth who allegedly thrashed the petrol pump employee has been identified as Jaga Singh of Badagada area. Following the incident, the petrol pump employees staged a demonstration today demanding arrest of the accused youth.

“The accused youth attacked me when I was about to refuel his vehicle. He picked up an iron rod and hit me. I fell down but he continued to hit me,” the injured petrol pump employee said.

Bhubaneswar DCP, Anup Kumar Sahoo said “A youth assaulted an employee at the petrol pump following which a case has been filed in Badagada Police Station. Action will be taken against the accused youth and the employees need not protest as they can file an FIR in this regard.”
