Bhubaneswar: Twin city citizens of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have vented their ire against the hike in petrol price by the Centre last night. Protestors supported by several political parties today have also staged dharna at several places by blocking roads and burning tyres on the roads.

Protesting the hike, BJP Yuva Morcha has called for a 12 hour petrol pump bandh in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Party activists in a motorcycle rally visited the petrol pumps in the twin cities and asked the pump authorities to shut down the outlets and co-operate with them.

Party workers of Biju Yuva Janata staged a dharna in front of the Raj Bhawan to protest against the hike. While CPM has also joined hands rallying with the irked consumers, members of the CPM Bhubaneswar Regional Committee staged a road blockade near NH 5, paralysing vehicular traffic for sometime.

Petrol price was hiked by the Centre Rs 7.50 a litre last night.
