Khurda: It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog - American writer, Mark Twain's words were proven true by this pet dog who gave his life to save the children of its master from a venomous snake.

As per reports, the pet dog named Laden, belonging to Devabrata Samantaray of Mundamuhana village under Jaanla police limits in Khurda, reportedly pounced upon a cobra which entered the house and killed it on the spot thwarting any danger to his master's children, who were playing nearby.

Sources said, Laden was tied with a leash at the front of Devabrata's home when it saw a 5-feet-long cobra approaching the children. It wasted no time and attacked the snake killing it on the spot averting a major disaster.

However, Laden died after sometime as it was also bitten by the snake during the fight.

Speaking to OTV, Devabrata said, "Laden was a loyal dog. He could have survived if he weren't chained."
