Dharmagarh: Hundreds of irate beneficiaries under the public distribution system detained the executive officer of the  Badan Podaguda panchayat to protest large scale irregularities in supply of essential items like rice, sugar and kerosene under the Antodaya Yojna. The executive officer was released after six hours after the block development officer of Koksara assured that action would be initiated against the erring officials involved in the irregularities.

Hundreds of residents of over a dozen villages like Tala Gaon, Kachharapada, Raenguda, Bhaliajor and Sargiguda depend upon the Bada Podagada panchayat office for essential items like sugar, rice and kerosene provided under the Antodaya scheme. The beneficiaries alleged that they did not get the items regularly at the PDS outlets and regular complaints to the panchayat executive officer went in vain which compelled them to the extreme step.
