Patnagarh fear haunts: Smoky parcel triggers panic in post office
Keonjhar: The scare surrounding parcels triggered by the recent Patnagarh wedding gift blast incident led to a curious situation at the Ghasipura Post Office in Keonjhar today where a package suddenly started emitting smoke.
As per reports, the parcel that arrived from Jajpur Road reached the Ghasipura post office yesterday and was supposed to be delivered to another post office at Deogaon.
The smoke was detected by one of the staff who immediately informed other employees at the office. As panic spread, two police officials from the nearby outpost rushed to the spot and shifted the parcel to an open space in order to minimise the effect of any unforeseen damage, if any.
The cops also called fire brigade personnel and the joint team inspected the consignment before opening it in the presence of district magistrate only to find five solar lights inside the packet. And the smoke was coming out of those lights due to high temperature.
