Bhubaneswar: Over a hundred passengers traveling in an AirAsia flight had a tough time after the scheduled landing of the plane at the city-based Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) today was aborted due to dense fog at the airport.

According to sources, AirAsia FD 112 flight, carrying nearly 150 passengers from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar was not allowed to land at the BPIA airport due to poor visibility conditions on account of dense foggy weather. The plane was diverted to Kolkata airport.

Passengers boarding the flight have complained that even after landing at Kolkata airport, they had to stay inside the plane for nearly two hours without any notice. They also alleged of not being provided any food and nor any assurance for their return journey to Bhubaneswar.

"My health is not good as I am suffering from diabetes but we have been unable to get any food after arriving at the airport," rued a passenger.

Bhubaneswar airport director Suresh Chandra Hota ruled out the allegations levelled by the passengers that they were not provided food and beverages. He further said that the airport authorities have communicated the matter to the AirAsia management so that such incidents can be avoided in future.
