(image) Bhubaneswar: The Bharat bandh called by the central committee of CPI (Maoist) across 6 states including Orissa on Monday has partially affected the Maoist infested areas of the state. The bandh is in protest against the various scams and price hike of essential commodities.

The vehicular movement has been disrupted in Koraput and Malkangiri districts leaving passengers stranded at many places. However shops, government offices and educational institutions have remained open despite the Bandh call.

In the meantime the Bandh has affected Gajapati district to some extent. The bus communication has been disrupted on state highway no.17, the Berhampur- Adaba-Raygada route. The bus services between Paralakhemundi and R. Udayagiri, Mohana and Ramagiri have come to a grinding halt, bringing quandaries for the passengers. However the marketplaces in Paralakhemundi and Kashi Nagar have remained open.
