Cuttack: The parents of the controversial new born baby at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here today filed an application in the High Court to conduct DNA test on the baby to determine its parentage. The parents demanded that an independent agency must probe the baby swapping case and they should get back their baby boy instead of the baby girl handed over by the hospital administration.

Eleven days have passed since the controversial baby swapping incident rocked the SCB medical here. A couple from Nischintakoili area of Cuttack alleged that the staff of the gynaecology department of the hospital had allegedly swapped their baby boy with one girl and refuted to accept the new born baby girl.

The district administration meanwhile has turned down the appeal of the hospital administration to hand over the baby girl to any non-government organisation. The baby has been under the care of the nursing staff of the gynaecology department.

The couple in their plea have made the state government and the hospital administration as Opponent parties and demanded adequate compensation for undergoing mental torture.

The hospital authorities had earlier refuted to conduct DNA test of the baby girl. Now all eyes would be glued upon the High Court bench for its verdict on the DNA test. However, till the court order comes, the unfortunate baby girl for no fault of her has to live in the care of the nurses without any identity.
