The pangolin trafficking case in Rajnagar area of Kendrapara district has taken a serious turn, with the role of an Police Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) now under scrutiny.
As per sources, the investigation ambit is set to widen, bringing Pattamundai Adarsh Police Station IIC Bandana Patra under the scanner.
As per reports, the Forest Department has expressed suspicion over the alleged involvement of the woman police official with the accused persons involved in pangolin smuggling. As per allegations, IIC Bandana Patra allegedly entered the Rajnagar Forest Department office on January 21 and abused the staff.

She reportedly questioned forest officials for detaining the accused without informing her, and is also accused of misbehaving with the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF).
Following the incident, Forest Department staff met the Rajnagar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and demanded strict action against the IIC. The DFO stated that the matter has been reported to higher authorities as well as the Kendrapara Superintendent of Police for necessary action.
