Bolangir: Over 50 girl students of central government-run Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Loisingha in Bolangir district left hostel on Sunday to vent their grievances before the district Collector. The girl students alleged that they were not being served proper food in the hostel and were often scolded by the headmaster and hostel warden.

The girls had left the hostel last evening and were heading towards Bolangir to meet the District Collector. However, they were stopped midway by the Sarpanch and some locals near Putapalli area who convinced them to return to hostel.

On being informed about the girls, the Collector directed the BDO to submit a report after an enquiry into the incident.

Loisingha Block Development Officer (BDO) Ramachandra Khuntia informed that an enquiry will be conducted in connection with the allegations levelled by the students.

"The students were protesting the transfer of a teacher from the school and heading towards Bolangir. However, they were stopped by the sarpanch and some locals midway. The Block Education Officer (BEO) or Collector will visit the school tomorrow and hold a meeting in order to resolve the issues," informed Khuntia.

"An enquiry has also been initiated into the matter and we will speak to the teachers and students in connection with the allegations," added the BDO.
