Khurda: More than 30 passengers were injured in a collision between bus and a truck near Godipada toll gate under Jankia police limits in Khurda district late on Saturday night. The bus was carrying picnickers from Bhadrak to Tara Tarini and other tourist destinations in Ganjam, official sources said.

Following the mishap, the injured were initially rushed to Khurda hospital and later two persons were shifted to Bhubaneswar in a critical condition.

On getting information, police reached the spot and rescued the passengers with the help of locals and fire personnel.

Though the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the mishap occurred as the driver of the bus was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, police have initiated a probe into the incident.

Earlier, two persons were killed and 12 others were critically injured in separate road mishaps in Bhadrak and Sundergarh district late on Thursday night.
