Over 1 Cr women to receive Rs 5,000 Cr under Subhadra Yojana, scheme strengthening financial security across Odisha

The Subhadra Yojana has emerged as a major welfare initiative aimed at supporting women across Odisha through direct financial assistance. 

As part of the scheme’s continued implementation, the fourth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana will be released on Sunday. More than Rs 5,000 crore will be transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of over 1.2 crore eligible beneficiaries across the state.

Officials stated that the scheme is expected to strengthen financial security and increase the participation of women in household and community-level economic activities across the state.

According to officials, by transferring funds directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, the initiative is helping improve financial inclusion and providing economic support to women in different parts of Odisha.

Fourth Instalment To Be Released

The Chief Minister will transfer the funds to beneficiaries while attending the Subhadra Yojana Convention at Talabania in Puri on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

New Beneficiaries Added

This phase of the scheme will also see the inclusion of new beneficiaries. Around 2 lakh 13,000 additional women have been added to the beneficiary list and will receive financial assistance under the latest instalment.

Officials said the expansion reflects the continued reach of the programme as more eligible women are brought under its coverage.

Eligibility And Pension Transition

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said women who attain the age of 21 years will be included in the beneficiary list under the scheme.

She also stated that beneficiaries who cross the age of 60 years will be removed from the Subhadra Yojana list and shifted directly to the pension list.

Officials said initiatives such as the Subhadra Yojana are aimed at improving financial security for women while encouraging their participation in economic activities across households and communities in Odisha.
