Fear and superstition have gripped Gadabaguda village under Narayanpatna police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district, where at least ten men have reportedly died over the past year.
In response, villagers have restricted the entry of outsiders for eight days starting Sunday, putting up posters at the entrance of the village warning visitors not to enter.
According to reports, villagers believe the series of male deaths to be caused by the wrath of the village deity. They attributed the untimely deaths, many following sudden falls or road accidents, to divine displeasure.
Acting on the advice of a local 'witch', they began performing special rituals and pujas to appease the goddess, hoping the worship would bring relief and restore peace.
Restrictions On Movement
During the ritual period, the entry of outsiders has been completely banned. Posters placed at the village entrance clearly state that no one from outside can enter.

Villagers have also restricted their own movement; no resident is allowed to leave the area, and people are permitted to move only within the village perimeter.
