OTV Impact: Illegal Brick Kilns Served Notices In Odisha

Cuttack: The district administration sprang into action after a report on illegal brick kilns mushrooming near the famous Brahmanabana shrine at Salepur in the district was telecast on OTV.

As per the reports, the Revenue Inspector (RI) has issued notices to 14 brick kiln mafias after the Tehsildar ordered an investigation into the matter.

If the words of Jitendra Kumar Patra, the Tehsildar of Nischintakoili are to be believed then, strict action will be taken against brick kiln owners if they can’t furnish required documents pertaining to the operations in due time.

Speaking to OTV, Patra said, “I had directed the RI to investigate into the matter following a report on OTV about illegal brick kilns in the area. He has handed me details of over 14 such cases of illegal kilns operating in the area. If necessary, we can even demolish them too.”

As per allegations, the brick kiln owners are earning a lot of money through these illegal units and indiscriminate digging of earth is being done without any care for the environment.
