Keonjhar: The sub-inspector of Keonjhar Town police station, Makardhwaja Sethi was today put under suspension after OTV aired exclusive visuals of the police officer resorting to excesses at Sukruli bazar in Mayubhanj district. The officer had gone to investigate theft cases where he targetted man of nomadic community.

The Town police station staff had gone to Sukruli in connection with theft cases registered in Keonjhar. The police too had unearthed some stolen items. But after that the police officer, Makardhwaj Sethi applied inhuman third degree methods on the man from a nomadic community in the public. The man received bad bruises due to thrashing from Makardhwaj.

The police recovered gold ornaments worth about Rs 6 lakh, cash to the tune of Rs 32,000 and 15 mobile sets and arrested 17 persons including 15 from the nomadic community. But the inhuman behaviour of the police sub-inspector created flutter among the people. Aside from the suspension of Makardhwaj, the Keonjhar SP Ashish Kumar Singh has asked the additional SP to submit a report on the incident within 24 hours.
