Bhubaneswar/Kochi: Taking a cue from Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), Kerala Deputy General of Police Loknath Behera said that a disaster response force will be formed for the southern Indian state soon.

In an exclusive interview to OTV, Behera said, “Soon a Kerala State Disaster Response Force will be formed like ODRAF to tackle such natural calamities.”

Behera also praised the Fire Services Personnel of Odisha who actively rescued flood victims in Kerala.

Hailing the fishermen as the actual hero of the entire relief operation, Behera said that on August 29, Kerala CM will felicitate fishermen at a state-level convention. He also said that exclusive schemes will be laid out for migrant labourers from Odisha who will get compensation.

“Those who have come from Odisha, Bengal and other states are not being discriminated as they are helping in building Kerala’s economy. For the welfare and emancipation of migrant labourers, we are rolling out some schemes so that they will be compensated,” he said.

The Kerala DGP also assured Odisha residents in Kerala that they will get government aid soon.

“I would like to urge Odia brothers and sisters to not get panicked by the situation just because they are staying outside their home state. There will be temporary problem of jobs but the Kerala government will soon take steps to help them,” Behera added.
