‘Visuals shown in media not related to Gothakeli triple murder’
Paralakhemundi: Gajapati SP Satyajit Nayak said on Thursday that the video footage aired by a TV channel and pictures published in a leading vernacular daily showing three youths being beaten to death are not those of the Gothakeli triple murder as claimed by these media organisations.
Speaking to media persons, Nayak said the video footages have nothing to do with any incident in Odisha. Above all, those visuals are of a case that happened in another state one and a half years back.
“This is not in a right spirit from the press ethics point of view. We will inform the editorial staff of the vernacular daily and TV channel about the issue and necessary legal action will be initiated against them,” the Gajapati SP said.
Mentioning the kind of hardships the police is facing in the Naxal-affected districts, he said, “This kind of visuals will bring down the morale of the people.”
Notably, the Gothakeli triple murder happened last month. Till now, six persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of three youths.
