Vigilance begins probe into CDA land allotment mess

Cuttack: The Vigilance sleuths today began investigation into the illegal allotment of plots, houses and flats under the discretionary quota by Cuttack Development Authority.

A three-member team on the day raided the CDA office at Arundaya Nagar here and grilled its administrative officer S S Naik for several hours.

The Vigilance team asked the officer to submit certain files relating to discretionary quota but the same was not complied with. Such raids would happen in future too, the Vigilance officials said.

A task force headed by senior bureaucrat Dr Taradutt had suggested to the State government for cancellation of as many as 921 allotments of plots, houses and flats by the CDA under discretionary quota which were made since January 1995.

CDA during the past two decades have made around 11,000 allotments under this category.
