UU poll: Students visit Raj Bhavan, submit memorandum

Bhubaneswar: Students of Utkal University in Odisha on Friday visited the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum addressed to Governor and Chancellor of the university SC Jamir.

Yesterday, the PG Council decided in a meeting, chaired by council chairman Ranjan Kumar Bal, that the students’ union poll would not be held in the university keeping in view the ongoing tension in the campus.

Later, students protesting against the decision staged a dharna in front of the main gate of the university.

Meanwhile, three platoons of police force were deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
