Two minor boys found dead; irate locals block NH in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Tension ran high in Dhankauda area on the outskirts of the city following recovery of bodies of two minor boys from a nullah at Sindurapanka village near Haradajor on Tuesday.

Family members of the deceased and locals blocked the National Highway demanding CBI probe into the death of two minor boys. They alleged that the boys were killed.

The agitation of the family members and locals went out of control suddenly and stones were pelted at police vehicles. Following this, Sambalpur SP Akhileshwar Singh reached the spot and pacified the irate people.

Singh said, “We have recovered the bodies of the two missing boys from the nullah. If they died after drowning, we will treat the case accordingly. In case of any foul play, we will treat the case in that way.”

The deceased, identified as Fardin and Islam, had been missing since Sunday.

According to reports, the duo, both of them students of class VI of Modern Public School, had gone to a market in Sonapalli area on Sunday and did not return.

Following this, their parents had lodged a missing complaint with Dhanupali police station and since then the police had launched a search operation to find the two students. But they found the bodies of the minor boys from a nullah near Haradajor area on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the families of the deceased have alleged that their sons have been murdered pointing to the fact that the cause of the death is yet to be ascertained.
