TV actor’s death: Autopsy report says Raja was not under alcoholic effect

Balasore: Mystery shrouding the death of TV actor Ranjit Pattnayak alias Raja deepens as the postmortem report submitted by the SCB Medical College and Hospital to the district police on Thursday said Raja was neither under the influence of alcohol nor he was strangulated, said sources.

Besides, the postmortem report added Raja died of excess bleeding and his liver was damaged. The body was having many injuries, it added.

Raja’s knees and wrists were broken, said the postmortem report.

Meanwhile, actress Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal alias Jessy, who deposed at the Soro police station, said she did not appear before the cops earlier to record her statements as she was frightened after the incident.

Jessy told media persons, “I guess Raja might have fallen off the bridge due to a slip of his legs. He is not a person who can commit suicide.”

She further stated, “Raja did not go outside of the vehicle out of anger. After long hours of our discussion, he asked the driver to stop the vehicle so that he can attend the call of nature. For this reason, I believe his death is an accident.”

On the talks regarding her relationship with Tusar, Jessy said, “This is completely a rumour. I have no relationship with him apart from friendship. He is just a co-actor.”

“Raja is my best friend and big supporter for me,” she said.

“I did not have love affairs with Raja as the talks are going on. We had never discussed about marriage. However, he was in deep love with me and I had also similar kind of feelings for him.”

“I expect the investigation in the right direction and believe that proper decision will be taken,” she added.

Meanwhile, SDPO of Balasore (Sadar) Prafulla Chandra Badajena said, “The statements of Jessay is matching 80% with other two persons connected to the case. However, regarding altercation between Raja and Jessy, some suspicion is present.”

He added, “We would go for polygraph test of three persons including Jessy to know whether they are giving correct statements.”

Notably, after dodging the police for four days, Jessy finally appeared before the Soro police on Friday hours after the district police served her a notice to appear before it and cooperate in the investigation into the death of Raja.

The actress arrived at the Soro police station with her family members in the afternoon.

Jessy was summoned after investigations revealed that she accompanied Raja to an event in Bhadrak district on the fateful night and was present when the incident happened on their way back from the function.

Earlier, the Balasore police had decided to conduct a polygraph test on Raja’s driver Dhaneswar and event co-coordinator Pralay Jena.

The police conducted a recce yesterday at the spot where the dead body of Raja was found. A police team from Soro had taken Dhaneswar and Jena to Chaparapada Bridge on NH-5, where Raja was found dead, to understand how his death took place.
