Three Maoists killed in encounter on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border
Malkangiri/Sukma: Three Maoists were killed in a fierce encounter with the security personnel inside Arlampalli forest in Sukma district on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border on Monday.
According to reports, the CRPF and Chhattisgarh police, acting on a tip-off about a Maoist camp, had launched a combing operation in Arlampalli forest in Sukma district, about 20 km from Padia in Malkangiri district in the morning.
During the operation, the Maoists suddenly opened fire at the security personnel to which the latter immediately retaliated.
After an hour-long crossfire, the Maoists managed to escape. The security personnel later found the bullet-ridden bodies of three Maoists whose identity has not been established. Besides, they also seized huge cache of arms and explosives from inside the forest.
The search operation was on till the reports last came in.
