Sold baby rescued by GRP, hospitalised

Puri: A 3-month old baby, who was allegedly sold at Rs 3000, was rescued by Government Railway Police (GRP) near Railway station and admitted to sick newborn care unit (SNCU) of district headquarters hospital here on Monday morning.

Kumbharpada police interrogated the buyer and later freed him on a personal bond. Police started investigation into the monetary transaction in the child selling issue.

Notably, mother of the baby Durga Das on Sunday alleged that a man forcibly took her child by paying Rs 3000. Later, Puri childline intervened into the matter and lodged FIR at Kumbharpada police station.
