IISER site: Central team’s second visit to Ganjam today
Ganjam: A team from the Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) will visit Berhampur on Friday for the second time to finalise the location for the construction of both permanent and temporary campuses of the proposed Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).
The team is scheduled to inspect the suitability of locations chosen by the Odisha Government for the permanent and temporary campuses of IISER.
The State government had identified 200 acres of land in Palur Hills and 80 acres of land in Lauding village as probable sites for establishment of the permanent campus of the elite science institute.
The Central team will also assess the required infrastructure, communication facilities and other amenities which are must for a premier institute like IISER.
The team is scheduled to visit three other locations, which the State government had identified for setting up the temporary campus of the institute.
On November 17, 2015, a five-member central team led by HRD Director had visited Palur Hills and Lauding village.
Besides, the team also visited Gandhi Institute and BSET, which have been proposed as temporary campus for the premier science institute.
The Central team’s visit to the district is important as the classes of IISER in Berhampur are scheduled to start from this academic year.
