Cong women wing asks for Atanu’s resignation

Bhubaneswar: State women Congress activists staged a dharna against the surging infant deaths at Sishu Bahvan, in front of Naveen Nivas today.

The dharna was led by the State women Congress president Bijaylakhmi Sahu and had over 100 women activists who showcased the protest vehemently. Police intervened the situation and tried to disperse the mob.

Congress leader Sasmita Behera said, “Infants were killed in the hospital. If the hospital does not have basic facilities, how treatment of babies can be done?”

Further, she stated, “We demand the chief minister should expel the health minister from the cabinet.”

Meanwhile, BJD spokesperson Sameer Das said,”The centre must provide the financial shares and funds for the newly setup medial hospitals and colleges. Because as per the Federal system it is their duty. They are not doing any favor on the state. Just sending six doctors for six days is not enough”.

When asked about the congress gherao at the Naveen Nivas today, Das further added,” 14 months after the election the congress is going through identity crisis. So it is like a routine process for them to save that identity”.
