Sexual slur on computer trainer; irate students ransack institute

Bhadrak: Tension ran high in Basudevpur area in the district on Tuesday after some students of a computer training centre alleged that the owner of the institute has been sexually exploiting girls who are pursuing computer courses here.

According to reports, some students of BIIT Computer Institute on Tuesday ransacked the centre after they saw an obscene video clip featuring the computer trainer and a girl student.

“The centre-in-charge Sankarsan Sethi has been blackmailing girl students for a long while in the name of giving computer education. We came to know about his activity after the Saraswati Puja when we found the obscene video clippings of Sethi indulging in sexual act with a girl student in our mobile phones. Since then he has been absconding,” said Kamalakanta Giri, a student of the institute.

Following this, a case has been registered against Sethi at Basudevpur Police Station.

Talking to media persons, Bhadark SP Asit Kumar Mohanty said, a case has been registered under Section– 420 of the IPC.

“The IIC has gone to the institute for an on-the-spot inquiry. Appropriate action would be taken against those involved in the incident,” he added.

Meanwhile, demanding immediate arrest of the accused, members of the Akhil Bhartiya Ganatantrik Mahila Samiti handed over a memorandum to the local tehsildar.

“Police should take immediate action against the accused or else we will be forced to come to the street,” warned Mamata Jena, president of Akhil Bhartiya Mahila Samiti.
