Sarathi moves HC seeking discontinuation of ‘misleading’ news
Cuttack: The arrested self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul has knocked the doors of the Odisha High Court seeking restrictions on publication or telecast of news pertaining to him till settlement of cases against him.
In a writ petition filed in the HC on Wednesday, Sarathi Baba mentioned that his reputations are being tarnished with the circulation of misleading and mischievous news on traditional media as well as social media against him. As the matter is sub-judice, the court should interfere into it, the plea added.
He has made State Home Secretary, DGP, Crime Branch IG, Press Council of India and Press Information Bureau as respondents in his petition.
Sarathi Baba, who was arrested by the Crime Branch from his ashram at Barimula in Kendrapara district on August 8, is currently lodged at the Choudwar circle jail.
