Repair work of Jagamohan from January 27

Puri: The repair work of the crumbling Jagamohan, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum of Jagannath Temple here, will begin from January 27, said Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Friday.

A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration with Chatisa Nijog on Friday.

The Shree Mandir Management Committee will hold a meeting on Jan 13 to approve the Chhatisha Nijog’s decision on repair work, Mohapatra said adding that after the approval, SJTA will hand over the repairing work to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The repair work would continue for nearly one year and Devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of the deities and only those servitors who have rituals to perform can enter the temple during the renovation work.

The deities will be allowed to have darshan of the deities from outside barricade inside the temple and Sahanamela and Paramanika darshans will not be held during the construction work, a decision in this regard was also taken during the meeting.
