Questions raised over injection quality

Balangir: After the death of three women at VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Burla last week, doctors here at the district headquarters hospital have raised questions over the quality of an injection used for over eight to nine months.

“The injection, which should look like yellowish after production turns into black even before its expiry date,” said Dr Umashankar Sai, of the hospital following a nurse’s complaint.

“The State’s Health department had supplied this injection in August 2014 and since then we have been using it despite the questions were raised over its colour,” said Rabinarayn Tripathy, chief district medical officer (CDMO) of Balangir.

“Whether this injection has created any side effects on any of patient or not, we will inform the higher authorities about the injection,” Tripathy added.
