Pradhan urges centre for drought review team

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday urged the centre to send a team to assess the drought like situation in the State.

The expert team will comprise of Union agriculture ministry and a representative from Central Rice Research Institute(CRRI) Cuttack, as directed by the union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.

Dharmendra Pradhan informed Singh that due to deficient rainfall the agricultural activities in 103 blocks in 23 districts have been adversely affected. However, the situation has been at its worst in the districts of Dhenkanal, Khurda, Balangir, Boudh, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Kondhamal and Keonjhar as these eight districts have registered less than normal rainfall.
