Controversy erupts over MP Nagendra Pradhan’s letter to CM
Sambalpur: Political slugfest has begun over MP Nagendra Pradhan’s letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting him to execute the Sindol hydro power project over Mahanadi.
Alleging the letter of the parliamentarian is against the interest of Sambalpur, the opposition party Congress in a press conference at its party office here, threatened that they will not allow Pradhan to enter the city if he would not withdraw his letter.
Besides, Congress also alleged that BJD raised the Sindol hydro power project issue to divert the attention of people from the recent farmer suicide cases which has emerged as a major concern in the state.
Sureswara Mishra, Smabalpur Congress Committee president said, “This is a pre-planned political conspiracy to divert the attention of people from farmer suicide cases. As the project is against the self-interest of the locals here and people are opposing it so he must act accordingly as the representative of this area.”
“This is a conspiracy against the self-interest of people and it will be strongly opposed by the Congress”, Mishra added.
Reputing the allegation made by the Opposition, BJD MP Nagendra Pradhan said, “If new technology will be adopted then there will be no displacement in the project. There are a lot of scopes. We can start the project by examining them. In my letter to CM, I have written that the project can be done without displacement.”
Notably on October 28, Pradhan had written letter chief minister Naveen Patnaik requesting him to execute the 90 mega watt Sindol hydro power project over Mahanadi at Deogaon here.
