Police to take Subhas on two-day remand
Bhubaneswar: The sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court here on Saturday granted the police to take Puri train arson main accused Ramachandran Subhas on a two-day remand.
Official sources said the Government Railway Police (GRP), Bhubaneswar will take Subhas on remand to elicit more information on his suspected involvement in the train arson case in Bhubaneswar. On November 12, before a major fire broke out in Puri station engulfing five bogies of three trains, the GRP had doused a fire of small intensity in Bhubaneswar station which was noticed in a Puri-bound train.
Sources added, though Subhas reportedly didn’t spill anything about the fire incident in Bhubaneswar railway station during the polygraph test, the GRP expects it will succeed in getting information from him about the matter.
“We hope to get some information from him on the Bhubaneswar incident,” an official on condition of anonymity said.
Earlier in the polygraph test, which was necessitated following the varying statements of Subhas about his alleged involvement in the train fire incident, he admitted to have links with Pakistan terrorist group. The test report which came out on December 11, too said he had established these links following his meeting with two youths- Riaz and Uttam- in Mumbai while the former was staying in the metro city few months ago.
The report too said before nabbed in Puri, Subhas had conducted similar things in other stations too.
The Odisha police who are assisting the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in conducting the investigation, said the information would be helpful in cracking several other similar cases reported in other parts of the country.
“We are extending all support to the NIA team. They are doing a very good thing and we hope it will crack the sensitive case,” Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Kanwar Brajesh Singh had said.
