Court allows 3-day remand of Baba, sons

Bhubaneswar: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court here today allowed the commissionerate police to take Trahi Achyuta Ashram chief Surendra Mishra aka Sura Baba and his two sons on a three-day remand.

The police had sought a five-day remand of the father-son trio against whom allegations of government land grabbing and social misconduct have been levelled.

Yesterday Mishra and his two sons- Trilochan and Biranchi were sent to Jharpada jail here after court order.

Earlier all the three were produced in the JMFC court. The court order followed after no bail plea was made on behalf of the trio. The Commissionerate police also didn’t apply for their remand though government land grabbing allegations were leveled against the father-son trio along with social misconduct inside the Ashram.

The arrest of the trio was made on the basis of case no 187/2015 at Balipatna police station.

Police sources said total four cases have been registered against Mishra and his sons. They have been booked under sections 241, 342, 323, 294, 506, 34 of IPC of IPC and 3 of SC/ST Act.
