Phuluri seva of ailing deities begin
Puri: After a holy bath on Debasnana Purnima to beat the scorching heat, Lord Jagannath along with his siblings and Sudarshan have taken ill. The divine siblings are now suffering with a strong fever and are undergoing treatment at ‘Anasara Ghara’ a secret place on the temple premises.
Meanwhile, the servitors of the temple have started a unique healing method ‘phuluri tela seva’ from today to cure the deities.
According to believes, Phuluri tela is one of the important medicines used for the treatment of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra, Sudarshan and Goddess Subhadra. This special oil is prepared on Hera Panchami and is applied on the bodies of the idols during ailing period.
A wide range of natural elements, mainly flowers such as malli, ketaki, kia, boula, champa, barks and roots such as benachara, sesame oil, sandalwood powder, camphor, rice grains and many other ingredients are used while making the phuluri, which is prepared by the Bada Odia Matha in Puri.
