Panchayats, ULBs to get RMCs income
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday decided to provide 40 per cent of the income of Regulated Market Committees (RMCs) from paddy procurement to urban local bodies and gram panchayats.
According to sources, chief minister Naveen Patnaik has directed to use the money for infrastructural development in urban bodies and panchayats.
The gram panchayats and urban local bodies participating in paddy procurement will get about 50 crore annually for the infrastructural development, the sources added.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had announced in its manifesto for 2014 election that a part of the income of the RMCs from paddy procurement will be provided to gram panchayats and urban bodies.
