Opp leader demands Special Service bench in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Opposition leader Narsingh Mishra today demanded for setting up of a Special Service bench of High Court in Bhubaneswar following the State Cabinet’s decision to abolishment Odisha Administartive Tribunal (OAT).

Speaking to mediapersons here, Mishra said circuit courts of the Service Bench should be established at different places of the State including Sambalpur and Berhampur on the lines of circuit courts of SAT.

Raising its concerns on the abolishment of OAT, HC Bar Association said if the tribunal gets closed, government employees will lose a forum to appeal regarding service matters. The association’s president Ashok Mohapatra said lakhs of government staff will face problems and it would not be proper to abolish the OAT.
