Odisha soaks in festive spirit on ‘Maha Astami’
Bhubaneswar: The State soaked in festive spirit on the occasion of ‘Maha Astami,’ the second day of Goddess Durga’s four-day sojourn on Earth. Devotees accross the State were seen thronging the puja pandals to catch a glimpse of Goddess Durga. The atmosphere inside the pandals was marked by devotion with chanting of mantras (hymns) as devotees made a beeline to offer Pushpanjali’ (floral libations).
Pandals this year, as always, have added significant flavour to the whole atmosphere with breathtaking designs and dazzling decorations through lights.
Capital city Bhubaneswar along with Cuttack, Rourkela Balasore, Sambalpur, Bolangir and many other places across the State are wearing an air of devotion and celebration since Maha Saptami yesterday which marked the beginning of the four-day sojourn of Goddess Durga on Earth.
In view of huge rush of devootees and traffic snarls during the festival, the commissionerate police has left no stone unturned to ensure a foolproof security for the revellers in twin city.
Anti-terrorist squad and two units of SoG have been deployed in both the cities. According to police all professional criminals have been arrested as per the section 110 of CrPC.
