Odisha CM asks Home secy to probe into Barabati shame

Bhubaneswar: Expressing resentment over the ruckus at the Barabati stadium in Cuttack following the unruly behaviour of the crowd throwing plastic water bottles at the playground and disrupting the T20 match between India and South Africa on Monday night, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday asked the principal secretary, Home, to probe into the unsavoury incident and submit a report within a month.

Presiding over a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat here, the chief minister asked the senior police officials, present at the meeting, as to under what circumstances the spectators were allowed to carry water bottles inside the stadium.

The meeting discussed about the measures to be taken for the next matches to ward off such incident.

The chief minister also cautioned the Odisha Police and the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) to take appropriate steps to ensure no recurrence of such incident in future.

Among others, chief secretary, development commissioner, additional chief secretary (Finance), principal secretary (Home), secretary (Sports and Youth Services), Director General of Police, police commissioner, director (Intelligence) were present at the meeting.
