Odisha BJP to select district chiefs through consensus
Bhubaneswar: The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Patry (BJP) which is in the midst of an organisational election process on Wednesday said, it will complete the process of selection of the district heads on consensus basis.
“There will be no election for presidents at district level. We will come to a consensus through consultations,” party’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh said.
Talking about the four-day programme, which begun at the party’s state headquarters here, Singh said, “Polls to 735 block committee presidents are complete and we will be doing an exercise over the next four days to select district chiefs. We have invited 30 to 35 active and responsible grassroots leaders from each district to arrive at a consensus on the candidates for Block presidents. In the process, we will consult around 1,000 grassroots leaders from 36 organisational districts across the State in the next four days,” Singh said.
Party sources said the party is expected to complete the selection of nine organisational districtson day one.
“After the selection of district chiefs, we will begin the process of choosing our State president,” he stated.
“We will prove that the Naveen Patnaik government in Odisha is inefficient and incapable of delivering. We will expose the failures and misdeeds of the state government as well as their party legislators at the grassroots level. Apart from harping on the anti-incumbency factor, we will highlight the achievements of 13 BJP-ruled states and the Narendra Modi government at the Centre,” Singh stated.
