Odia officer receives Units Citation on Army Day

New Delhi: On the occasion of Army Day on 15 January, Colonel Manas Kumar Mohapatra received Chief of the Army Staff Unit Citation from General Dalbir Singh Suhag. Col Mohapatra is the only Odia to be honoured on the occasion.

Speaking to OTV over phone, Colonel Mohapatra said, “I received this honour not in my individual capacity but on behalf of the unit I head, which was one of the 13 units that were honoured on the occasion. As the only Odia officer to get this citation this time, I am obviously proud to be heading the unit that has done commendable work in maintaining peace and harmony.”

Colonel Mohapatra is an ex-student of Sainik School, Bhubaneswar and is serving in Army for last 16 years. He is presently the Commanding Officer of 7 JAT Regiment, which is located in terrorist affected area of Assam.

Under his command, the battalion has carried out many successful operations in Assam, which has greatly assisted in maintaining peace and harmony in the state. For this contribution towards peace, his battalion has been awarded Chief of the Army Staff Unit Citation.

The award was received by Colonel Mohapatra from the Chief of the Army Staff during Army Day Parade organised at Parade ground, New Delhi on 15th January.
