‘Not aware if Shankaracharya should be consulted’

Puri: After Shankaracharya of Govardhan peeth Swami Nischalananda Saraswati expressed his discontent over not being consulted in the affairs of the Nabakalebar, the association of servitors of Lord Jagannath or the Daitapati Nijog has furnished its response.

The Nijog has said that it is unaware of the practice of whether the Shankaracharya should be consulted or not. However, if necessary then the Sri Jagannath Temple Adminstration and the Gajapati Maharaj of Puri can hold discussions with the Shankaracharya.

Earlier, the Shankaracharya, at a function in Jajpur’s Panikoili area revealed that he is not being consulted in the affairs of Nabakalebar. However, as a courtesy, the Gajapati Maharaj and the Mukti Mandap priests held discussions with him, said the Shankaracharya.
