No-helmet-no-petrol rule to be implemented in Bargarh from Sept 1
Bargarh: In a unique move to make wearing helmet compulsory, Bargarh district administration has given its nod to a proposal from police to direct the petrol pump owners not to sell fuel to customers riding two-wheelers without helmet.
The rule will be enforced from September 1, sources said adding that the cops have also decided to strictly implement the rule to reduce the number of casualties in road accidents. Further, the source stated, an awareness campaign to make people aware about the use of helmet will be launched in August and action will be taken against the violators from September 1.
Besides enforcing the helmet rule, the police will also take action against bikers with more than one pillion rider and drunk drivers. Meanwhile, local residents have welcomed the decision.
