Student pregnancies: NCST concerned
Bhubaneswar: Expressing deep concern over rising numbers of teen pregnancies in various sevashram schools in the State the National Commission for Scheduled Tribe (NCST) today urged the State government to look the matter seriously.
NCST Chairman Rameshwar Oraon said it after holding discussion with a state government team led by chief secretary G C Pati over a host of issues such as quality of education, infrastructure and healthcare facilities in sevashrams schools in the tribal-dominated Koraput, Sundergarh and Keonjhar districts.
The State government had not taken enough action against the 17 sexual harassment cases in sevashram schools, Oraon claimed.
Meanwhile, he also urged the government to open a model school in each block.
