Twin city security beef up for Durga Puja

Cuttack/ Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for an incident free Durga puja. While six Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), counter squads and special operations group (SOG) jawans, along with 90 platoons of armed police, would be deployed for the five-day long celebrations.

Briefing media persons here, twin city police commissioner RP Sharma said around six makeshift ponds to be created in Cuttack for immersion of idols.

We are also planning to install around 13 CCTV cameras on idol immersion routes to keep a strict vigil on the proceedings, Sharma added.

Major emphasis has been given on the traffic management of the city so that pandal hoppers do not face any problem. “The police personnel are trying their best to ensure a peaceful Dusherra, the police commissioner assured.
