Low pressure-induced rains create havoc
Junagarh: Incessant rains, induced by low-pressure, have created havoc in Kalahandi district as five-feet flood water was flowing over a bridge over the Hati river near Junagarh on NH-26 today.
A landslide on railway tracks near Machkunda in Koraput due to heavy rains disrupted train services on Koraput- Visakhapatnam route.
Flood water has also inundated many villages under Kokasara, Dharmagarh and Junagarh blocks of the district. Crops in acres of farm lands have been damaged. In villages under Kokasara block, crops in around 500 acres have been destroyed.
Five villages under Kalampur block were marooned and as many as 2,000 villagers have taken shelter at the Kalampur school.
Flood water was flowing dangerously at Halerjora located in between Dharmagarh and Junagarh affecting the road communication.
Similarly, flood water was flowing over the Mundra river at Chilguda resulting in disruption of surface communication to Kokasara-Junagarh.
Meanwhile, flood water was also flowing over danger mark in Bansadhara river near Kashinagar in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati district.
Similarly, three feet flood water was flowing over the Dabugaon bridge affecting road communication between Umerkote in Nabarangpur district and Jeypore in Koraput.
Flood water is also flowing over the Parua bridge disrupting communication in between Raighar and Umerkote.
