Karmi Sameelani: BJD’s strategy to counter Opp

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to handle the growing resentment among people, the Biju Janta Dal (BJD) will hold a month long ‘Karmi Sameelani’ from January 15.

The decision of the BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik to hold such party activists meetings comes in the wake of egg attack on ministers. Besides, the State government is in back foot over ration card irregularities.

In a letter to the party leaders, Patnaik said some outsiders out of jealousy are spreading wrong messages and trying to take the benefits. He urged his party men to reach people and apprise them of the achievements of the State government for the welfare of the people of the State.

BJD spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera said, “The Opposition’s conspiracy and unhealthy progarammes might create some misconceptions among people and mislead them. To spread the right message and counter the Opposition’s strategy are also part of our party’s responsibility.”

Mounting his attack on BJD, BJP MLA Pradeep Purohit said, “The ruling party is unable to face the resentment of the Opposition and people of the State. Like BJD padyatra, this Karmi Sameelani will fail. People will ask them (BJD) questions directly and this State government will lose its face.”

Echoing similar views, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said, “They (BJD) are trying to mislead people and providing wrong information for which they will face the questions from the people.”
