JNU Odisha students’ assn poll held
New Delhi: The Odisha students’ association of Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi conducted its annual election for the academic year 2015-16 on Saturday.
On the occasion, all the candidates deliberated on issues like development of Odisha, cultural marginalization, linguistic discrimination, women empowerment and representation of women in all spheres of life.
Besides, they too pointed out lack of facilities for higher education and research and training in Odisha. The candidates spoke in favour of organizing national and international seminars and workshops for greater connectivity among all Odia researchers working in the country.
In the meeting it was suggested by the students’ body to create a corpus fund to facilitate the economically deprived students.
While Madan Meher was unanimously elected as the convenor, Ranjita Jagdala was chosen as vice- convenor of the students’ body. Similarly Umesh Chandra Sahoo, Thabira Meher and Sarita Bag were elected as treasurer, secretary and deputy secretary of the students’ body respectively. The election committee members are Kumud Chandra Panigrahi, Sarbeswar Padhan and Jogendra Majhi.
