Infant deaths: Sishu Bhawan suptd shunted

Cuttack: A week after infant deaths at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics popularly known as Sishu Bhawan here touched 62, the Odisha government today took action against erring doctors at the child care centre and shunted out centre superintendent Niranjan Mohanty.

Dr. Saroj Satapathy replaced Mohanty as the new superintendent of Sishu Bhavan.

Officials said Mohanty was transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

Besides, doctors Anil Mohanty and Prabhakar Mishra were also transferred over infant deaths which created state-wide uproar.

Meanwhile three new doctors – Narendra Soren, Sapan Murmu and Shantisen Mishra have been appointed in the child care centre.
